Choosing wedding invitations can be an overwhelming task. With hundreds of options to choose from, how do you find the design that best fits your wedding? There are a few things we’ve learned over the years, assisting our brides as they sift through invitation books.
1. Gather 3-5 inspiration photos of invitation suites that catch your eye. Pinpoint specific design elements such as color, shape, patterns and fonts that you’re drawn to. This will be prepare you to start looking at options.

2. Take your time and block off about two hours of your schedule to meet with a stationery expert. Be patient and don’t get discouraged if you do not find the perfect design right away.

3. Know your options. Companies like William Arthur, Vera Wang and Carlson Craft offer pre-designed invitations and can be customized to your taste. If you are a visual person, this might be the way to go; however, if you want a completely custom invitaion, hiring a wedding-specific graphic designer is the way to go.

4. Consider developing a wedding brand. Start with a custom monogram and incorporate your style and colors. Your designer can create and print signage and accessories to place around your wedding. A few to consider below:
bar and food menus

5. Plan to choose and purchase invitations four months before your wedding date. Once printed, weigh your invitations at a post office before purchasing stamps and remember to stamp the RSVP envelope! Have your guests send in their response three to four weeks before the big day. If you’re planning a destination wedding, send invitations twelve weeks in advance and set your RSVP due date at least three weeks before the big day.
